Metra’s Paid Internship Opportunity

Metra plans to host 20 interns for a special passenger counting project. The initiative is part of Opportunity Works – paid sector based training and work experience for young adults who live in suburban Cook County.

Benefits include:
$12 per hour for up to 210 hours
Two days of training per week including career exploration with HR and face time with organizational leadership
Career mentoring and support services
Opportunity to secure FT employment with Metra

Participant Requirements:
Ability to get to Chicago Union Station
Ability to count quickly and accurately
Ability to stand and ride a train for long periods of time (40-75 min)
Dependable, punctual, honest
Follows oral and written instructions willingly
Legible handwriting
Polite, professional behavior

Support Riverdale at Thornton Township’s Basketball Tournament!

Thornton Township will be hosting its third annual basketball tournament where teens and police, firemen, village and park district employees play on the same team for the pride of their town. Two years ago, The Village of Lansing won and last year The Village of Markham won. They will also have free catered barbecue!

This event is FREE to the public, and the Village of Riverdale will be in attendance!
